Giveaway draughts: when material becomes a burden
Giveaway reverses the usual aim: lose your checkers or have no legal move under this version’s rules. Having more pieces is no longer an advantage by itself.

Offer captures with a plan
Simply placing a checker under attack is not enough. Check whether your opponent must capture that particular piece and where the sequence ends. Other capture options may defeat your plan. Remember the rule governing which capture chain must be chosen.
Plan for the final pieces
Early sacrifices can be easy to find, while the last checkers demand precise calculation. Leaving yourself with a mobile king may make the objective harder rather than easier. Consider the forced future moves of both sides before simplifying.
Compare familiar positions
The board and many movement rules are familiar from 10×10 draughts, but the value of a move changes. Examine one position twice: how would you preserve pieces in ordinary draughts, and how would you shed them in giveaway? The comparison exposes habits that no longer help.
