Card games and solitaire: different uses for one deck
A deck is a tool rather than a genre. Some card games focus on interaction between players, while solitaire offers an individual arrangement problem.

Playing against others
Turn order, available information and opponents’ decisions matter in multiplayer card games. A familiar hand may have a different value when other hands are hidden. Establish the specific variant’s rules before starting.
A puzzle for one player
Solitaire asks you to organise cards within restrictions. Information can be partly hidden, as in Klondike, or more open, as in FreeCell. This changes planning even though the suits and ranks look familiar.
Choosing a variant
Try Klondike for gradually revealed information and FreeCell for rearrangement with more visible cards. Spider places particular emphasis on sequences and empty columns. Compare the rules before transferring a familiar technique between variants.
